PPLN Mixers
For your application convenience and time-to-publication/time-to-market, HC Photonics provides PPLN mixers which integrate PPLN chips into a convenient, compact, robust, cost-effective packaged format. Through well-packaged format and convenient input/output laser coupling interfaces, we assist in your engineering/production efforts for your full-spectrum laser generation, sensing and applications.
PPLN Bulk Mixers
PPLN bulk mixers are frequency conversion modules which integrate PPLN bulk chips into a convenient, compact, robust, cost-effective packaged format for your application convenience. Optimized for your desired input pump lasers and frequency mixing configurations, PPLN bulk mixers provide the polarization maintained output either in free space or optical fiber, with available output wavelength ranging from UV/Visible to NIR/MIR and output power up to few Watts.

Five color series corresponding to the different wavelength range are our Best-seller selections designed for the specific application such as laser microscopy or atom trapping. Detailed specifications are shown below. Alternatively, contact us for your specific wavelength or requirements.
General Specifications
Excellent beam quality
Power scaling of bulk mixer-G (532 nm)
Thermal Reliability
1. Second-harmonic generation (SHG)
2. HC Photonics offers the best sellers at these wavelengths within +/- 0.5 nm. Custom wavelengths are available upon request.
3. SHG power is pump dependent. Please contact us for different power requirements with your pump conditions.
4. Typical coupling efficiency is 75% with single mode PM fiber. Please contact us for higher efficiency.

PPLN Waveguide Mixers: super efficient frequency converter
PPLN waveguide mixers are frequency conversion modules which integrate PPLN waveguide chips into a convenient, compact, robust, cost-effective packaged format for your application convenience. With waveguide structure, PPLN waveguide mixers have higher efficiency in single-pass configuration as compared to bulk mixers. Optimized for your desired input pump lasers, PPLN waveguide mixers provide the polarization maintained output either in free space or optical fiber, with available output wavelength ranging from UV/Visible to NIR/MIR and output power up to sub-Watt or even up to Watt level.

To avoid possible damage on fiber connectors, direct fiber splicing is recommended. However, if FC/APC or FC/PC connectors are needed, one can use commercially available components to handle fiber connection such as Fiber-to-Fiber U-Benches. (Thorlabs Inc.)
PPLN Cavity Mixers
Cavity configuration is an alternative way to enhance nonlinear frequency conversion. For your application convenience, we have developed cavity mixer platform which can be customized to a variety of mixer applications, such as external pump OPO (EP-OPO), Intra-cavity OPO (IC-OPO), intra-cavity SFG (IC-SFG), intra-cavity DFG (IC-DFG) etc. Example applications are for generating NIR signal wavelengths between 1.4-2 um and MIR idler wavelengths between 2.3-4.5 um.

Example: IC-OPO
an ultra-low power consumed optical parametric oscillator (OPO)
The intracavity design of the OPO utilizes the high circulating power in the cavity to achieve extremely low threshold pump power. 4 series with 3 wavelength cover ranges are provided upon request.
OPO-B and OPO-S are the OPO module with fixed wavelength specified by the customer in the range of either α, β or γ. In contrast, OPO-TB and OPO-TS are the wavelength tunable OPO that cover the entire range.
B: broad bandwidth (few nm)
S: single longitudinal mode
T: tunable
e.g. OPO-TS: tunable, single longitudinal mode
Frequency stability of the OPO-S-β
power scaling of OPO-B-α

PPLN Pulse Mixers
PPLN under pulse operation (ns/ps/fs) can be classified in a special category due to its unique features. Under high peak power operation, conversion efficiency in general could be relatively higher and could even enable OPA/OPG applications. However. crystal damage, pulse spectrum, and temporal walk-off effect in general needs to be taken into special consideration. We have developed several pulse bulk/waveguide mixers with optimization of above special pulse conditions.
